Muskoka Triathlon

The Muskoka Triathlon took place this past weekend, in Huntsville, under perfect conditions. The water was warm for the first time in years along with a comfortable air temperature, racing conditions where excellent. This was the first year of the Subaru Chase. The Pro Women had an 18:05 head start over the Pro Men. The first 10 athletes across the finish line split $20,000. Australian, Miles Stewart had a blazing fast run to win. He was followed closely by early leader Tom Evans with third going to Jasper Blake. Tereza Macel was the first women (and was only caught with 2km to go) in 4th place and Lisa Bentley was 2nd women in 6th place. There are some pictures just click on +more.

It was also a great day for NRG PT athletes. Congratulations to Teresa, Seanna, Maurice, Bill, Dave Jones, Jonathan, Sandra, Katie, Marian and Chris for solid races in the long course triathlon. Laura Cameron competed in her first tri of the season in the sprint race on Saturday

Today is also the start of the RAAM (Race accross America). NRG PT athlete Jeff Ruston is competiting in the 2 man team division. Jeff and Kevin Wallace will be riding alternating 2-4 hour shifts 24 hours a day for the next 7 days as they ride from the West coast of the US to the East Coast. They are also doing this as a charity fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and Kids cancer camps here in Ontario. For those of you who are interested, Jeff is also oraganizing a fund raising bike tour in Southern Ontario this August called the Tour for Kids raising money for 4 childrens cancer camps here in Ontario. This will be a great event for a great cause so if you are intereseted in riding please let me know
