The first triathlon of the Southern Ontario season took place this past weekend in Milton. This also coincided with the first heat wave of the summer and the normal worries with Milton (cold water and cold air temperature) where quickly forgotten as Kelso Lake was a balmy 68F and the air temperature was well into the upper 20’s C by the time the run started!
NRG PT was well represented with 8 athletes racing. Ken Marks and David Martens where toeing the line for their first triathlons ever as they prepare for Ironman Wisconsin in September, and both had very successful outings. Jesse Ryan, Dave Jones and Andrew Mugford all had solid efforts in their first tri’s of the year, while Mike Apted had a great day in his first sprint distance tri!! Cameron Bush was 4th in his age group and only 40sec away from first as he heads into Muskoka looking for a IMC spot. And Rob Gendron took part in the relay doing the swim and bike but did the run with his relay partner anyway!
Congratulations to all the athletes! There are a few pictures up in the scrapbook as well.
Coming up this weekend is the Lakeside Triathlon as well as the Rideau Lakes bike tour and the following weekend is Muskoka and the Hamilton triathlon, so look for more race reports in the next few weeks
