NRG Performance Training athletes where competing in both Ironman Florida and the New York City Marathon over the weekend.
In Florida it has been hot and wavy most of the week but the conditions on race day where great with flat water, not much wind and very moderate temperatures. Ironman Canada winner Tom Evans took his second Ironman win of the year, with Michellie Jones winning in her fist attempt at Ironman after an incredible short course career. NRG PT athlete and first time Ironman competitor, Dave Jones had a great day finishing in 11:38, Dave did the race as well to help raise money for his brother Pete who became quadriplegic last year after a mountain bike accident. Mitch Fraser raced well breaking his PB set on this course 2 years ago. Bill Dee and Soenke Koeber both had strong days. Chris Cameron had a huge breakthrough taking an 1 hour and 40 minutes off his previous best Ironman time.
The New York City marathon marked the return to competition for Paula Radcliff, the current women’s world record holder in the marathon, after a very disappointing DNF in the Olympics this summer. She showed she was back on track with a narrow 4 sec victory. NRG PT athletes Max Tremblay and John Wood where also competing and ran well in the tough and unexpectedly warm conditions on Sunday.
Congratulations to everyone who raced on the weekend.
