Similarto Wilcox Lake, it is a great place to set up as a base and spend the day, as biking and running from the Park is awesome. Here is some info that could be passed on to people and/or posted on your website.Kelso Open Water SwimsWhere:The swim takes place at the boat launch beach not the public beach. We are able to swim the perimeter of the lake, approximately at 1500m loop. There are many different ways to shorten the loop to make for ideal training. Also there is a out and back off the start that would be about 500m total. Perfect for all abilities of swimmers. Swim Course MapSafety:There will be 4 lifeguards on duty for each swim. One stays on the beach and does check in and out of all participants. Two follow the swimmers on paddle boards around the lake The forth lifeguard is in a motorized boat and also patrols the up and down the lake.Training:From a training perspective there is nothing better than putting on your wetsuit and training in open water swimming. It is perfect to mimic racing. Even the beach entry/exit is perfect for practicing starts and transitions if one desired. Also from Kelso, biking and running are both fantastic.Coaching:There will be no formal group coaching at the lake however I will be available to answer any of your swimming related questions or concerns. If you are interested in formal coaching for triathlon we have a few people in our club who currently coach triathletes and are qualified to coach. Email me if you are interested.Family:Kelso is also a multi-purpose park that has trails to hike and run, mountain biking, picnic area and numerous water sports too. It is also a perfect place to ride from or run before or after your swimming.Water Conditions: As mentioned on the application form, the Lake has only been closed 2 times due to poor water quality since 1996.
