In 2005, NRG PT athlete David Houghton took part in the Tour d’Afrique a ride that makes even the Tour de France look tame. The route traveled from Egypt to South Africa over the course of 3 long months of riding. David has written a great book, The E-F-I Club detailing the ups and downs and all the adventures of riding the African continent.
The Tour d’Afrique has been described as “the longest and most difficult bike race in the world”. And within those who have undertaken this epic journey, there is an elite group known as The E-F-I Club. These are the select few who have survived Every Fucking Inch of Africa between Cairo and Cape Town, despite illness, injury, mechanical breakdowns and all the misfortunes that Africa can muster.
The E-F-I Club is a unique book that captures the poignant beauty of the Dark Continent and the agony of one of the world’s most formidable adventures.
