Ironman Lake Placid, Bala, Sarnia and Niagara Races

Ironman Lake Placid took place last Sunday, July 24th under much better conditions than we faced at our NRG PT training camp in LP in June! With a high of 27C and not a lot of cloud cover it was hot but not compared to the summer we have been having and everyone was happy not to have a repeat of the 36C+ weather we had during the camp!

The format of IMLP was slightly different this year, with no mens Pro field and the Pro women starting 35min in front of everyone else. NRG PT athlete Jody Sanderson had an amazing day, finishing 6th overall and second in his age group and out running Heather Fuhr(Pro Women winner)with a 3:09 marathon. Kari Ala-Leppilampi also had a great race finishing 33rd overall and 9th his age group with a 3:20 run split in which he was only 2min slower on his second loop than on his first!! Jody and Kari both qualified for Ironman Hawaii and will be heading to Kona to race this October!

Congratulations as well to Lisa Olajos who was competing in not only her first Ironman but also her very first triathlon in Lake Placid (nothing like starting big!) and is now an Ironman!! Chris Cameron had a great race taking 25min off his previous best in Lake Placid. Brandon Whitby had a good race on a very light training schedule (maybe golf is an aerobic sport??). Congrats to our LP camp attendees, Mike Drak, who finished his fist Ironman and Paul Latremouille posting a strong finish in his 5th Ironman!

Racing in the Sarnia Duathlon, Scott Patterson won his second race overall this summer with a strong bike ride! In the Bala triathlon, Stephen Mills completed his first triathlon, Linda Mills & Catherine Adams both had good races and Mack Barford was top 10 in his age group! Racing in the Niagara Triathlon, Mike Apted had another great race in a busy summer of racing!

Congratulations to everyone who raced over the weekend and we will post some pictures from Lake Placid in the next few days!
